Grantham ginger biscuits (cookies)

1 | Stick butter, creamed together | |
1½ | cup | Four |
¼ | teaspoon | Baking soda |
½ | teaspoon | Baking powder |
¼ | teaspoon | Ginger |
½ | Egg (hint: beat, then measure) (a whole egg is too much) |
Directions
Many years ago, my boss would bake these and the buttermilk pie and bring them to work. She's in her 90's now. I have fond memories of both.
