Hi folks - as I was unpacking more cookbooks I found a better homes and gardens"favorites" from 1967 - it didn't have too many yeast breads but here's one for rolls and a few interesting looking quickies: Cream together butter and ¾ sugar. Add eggs and lemon peel, beat well.
Sift flour baking powder and salt and add to creamed mixutre alternately with milk. Beat until smooth. Stir in nuts. Pour into greasted 8.5x4.5x2½ inch loaf pan and bake 350 for 50-55 minutes or until done. Let cool in pan 10 minutes then spoon mixture of lemon juice and 2 tb sugar over top.
Remove and cool.
