Easy frosted brownies

Measure Ingredient
½ cup Sugar
⅓ cup Butter or margarine
2 tablespoons Water
1 (6-ounce) package semisweet
Chocolate morsels
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
2 Eggs
¾ cup All-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon Baking soda
¼ teaspoon Salt
1 cup Chopped pecans or walnuts

Combine sugar, butter, and water in a medium saucepan; cook over high heat, stirring frequently, until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat. Add 1 package chocolate morsels and vanilla, stirring until chocolate melts. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flour, soda, and salt; stir dry ingredients and 1 cup pec into chocolate mixture.Pour batter into a greased and floured 9-inch square pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool on wire rack. Cut into squares and serve plain, or sprinkle 1 package chocolate morsels over hot brownies, if desired. Let stand until morsels are softened; then spread evenly over brownies with a spatula. Sprinkle ½ cup pecans on top, if desired. Let cool, and cut into squares. Yield: 3 dozen.
