Yield: 6 servings
|6 mediums||Onions, peeled and cut into 1/2"|
|¼ cup||Plus 1 Tbsp. butter, melted|
|3 tablespoons||Self-rising flour|
|1 cup||(4 oz.) shredded Cheddar cheese|
Saute' onion in butter in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat until tender. Reduce heat to medium; sprinkle flour over onion and stir until smooth. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually add milk, stirring until smooth; stir in salt and pepper. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened. Stir in cheese until melted, if desired. Pour into a serving bowl. Serve with roast, meatloaf, or hamburger steaks and biscuits or grits, of course.
