6Salt herring fillets
3tablespoonsChopped onion
½cupChopped apple
2Hard-boiled eggs
3tablespoonsCider vinegar
2slicesWhite bread -- trimmed
1teaspoonSugar
2tablespoonsSalad oil

Directions

Soak the herring in water to cover overnight. Change the water twice.

Drain. Chop the onion, apple, eggs and herring together. Pour the vinegar over the bread and add to the herring with the sugar and oil.
