Chocolate brownie waffles

Yield: 6 servings

Measure Ingredient
½ cup Shortening
1 cup Granulated sugar
2 ounces Unsweetened chocolate melted
2 Eggs; well beaten
½ teaspoon Salt
1¼ cup Cake flour
½ teaspoon Cinnamon
½ cup Milk
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
½ cup Chopped walnuts (optional)

Work shortening with a spoon until fluffy and creamy. Gradually add sugar, while continuing to work with a spoon until light. Add melted chocolate and eggs and blend well. Sift together the dry ingredients and add alternately with milk, to which the vanilla has been added.

Add nuts and mix thoroughly. Bake on a waffle iron. Makes 6 waffles. Serve topped with vanilla or coffee ice cream. They are quite rich.
