Brown sugar squares

Yield: 6 Servings

Measure Ingredient
2½ cup Brown sugar
1¾ cup Evaporated milk
2 tablespoons Corn sirup
1 teaspoon Vanilla
2 tablespoons Butter or butter substitute
1 cup Coconut
1 cup Chopped almonds
Few grains salt

Boil sugar, sirup, and milk to soft ball stage (234 - 238 F). Remove from fire. Add butter. Cool to room temperature. Beat until thick and creamy. Add coconut, nuts, salt, and flavoring. Pour into well-buttered, shallow pan. Cut in squares. Mrs. M. Carello, Cato, WI.
