Yield: 6 servings
Measure | Ingredient |
---|---|
1 pounds | Broccoli; stems peeled & cut into thin spears 4\" long |
6 slices | Turkey (4\" x 1/4\") |
3 tablespoons | Butter -=OR=- |
3 tablespoons | Margarine; |
¼ cup | All-purpose flour; |
2 cups | Chicken broth -=OR=- |
1 \N | Chicken or vegetable bouillon cube dissolved in |
2 cups | Of water |
2 cups | Md-sharp Cheddar cheese; grated |
1 tablespoon | Worcestershire sauce; |
¼ cup | Fresh parsley; |
Preheat oven to 350 F. Spray a 2-qt casserole with nonstick vegetable cooking oil. Line the bottom with the broccoli and cover with the turkey slices. Melt the butter over medium heat in a small, heavy-bottomed saucepan. Sprinkle with the flour, whishing continuously until the flour is absorbed. Slowly add the broth and continue whisking until the sauce is smooth and thickened. Remove the sauce from the heat, sprinkle with the cheese, and whisk until the cheese melts. Pour the sauce over the turkey and bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes. NOTE: This is the epitome of comfort food--homey and delicious. You use leftover slices of turkey or buy it from the deli.
