|1 cup||Granulated white sugar|
|½ cup||Shortening (half butter; half Crisco)|
|2||Ripened bananas (bananas should feel slightly squishy)|
|2 cups||Sifted all purpose flour|
|1 teaspoon||Baking soda|
|1 cup||Chopped walnuts|

2. Add flour and baking soda to creamed mixture. (nuts are also added if desired)
3. Pour dough in greased loaf tin.
