Apple walnut bars

Ingredients

½cupMargarine; calorie-reduced softened
2Eggs
1teaspoonVanilla
¾cupSugar substitute; Splenda
1largeApple; grated, unpeeled
¼cupApplesauce; unsweetened
cupWalnuts; chopped, divided

Directions

Stir together flour, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda and salt; set aside. Beat margarine until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well. Beat in sugar substitute for about 1 minute. Add flour mixture, apple and applesauce; beat until well-blended. Stir in ¼ cup walnuts.

Spread evenly in greased 8-inch square baking pan. Sprinkle with remaining nuts. Bake at 350F for about 40 minutes or until tester inserted in centre comes out clean. Cool.

Cut into bars.
