4 cups | All-purpose flour |
3 teaspoons | Baking powder |
1 teaspoon | Salt |
1 pack | Dry yeast |
2 cups | Buttermilk |
¼ cup | Sugar |
1 teaspoon | Soda |
½ cup | Shortening |
2 teaspoons | Warm water |
Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt together. Cut in shortening. Soften yheast in water, stir until dissolved. Mix with buttermilk and combine with dry ingredients. Roll out to ¼" thick and cut biscuits. Place in cold ovn. Biscuits will rise while oven heats. Bake at 400 F. for 15 minutes. These biscuits may be made up and frozen for future use.
