Whole wheat walnut biscuits

2 | cups | Whole wheat flour |
2 | cups | All-purpose flour |
1 | cup | Chopped walnuts |
½ | cup | Wheat germ |
1½ | tablespoon | Baking powder |
1 | teaspoon | Baking soda |
½ | teaspoon | Salt |
1 | cup | Shortening |
2 | cups | Buttermilk |
⅓ | cup | Honey |
Directions
Recipe By : Southern Living Magazine Combine first 7 ingredients in a large bowl; cut in shortening with a pastry blender until crumbly. Add buttermilk and honey, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead 3 or 4 times. Pat or roll dough to ½-inch thickness; cut with a 3-inch round cutter, and place on lightly greased baking sheets.
Bake biscuits at 450° for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Yield: 2 dozen.
