1½ cup All-purpose flour
1½ cup Whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon Sugar
1¼ teaspoon Baking soda
1 teaspoon Salt
1 cup Buttermilk
¼ cup Vegetable oil
Butter or margarine, melted

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix flours, sugar, baking soda and salt. Stir in buttermilk and oil. Shape dough into 6 balls. Roll each ball into 9-inch square on lightly floured cloth- covered board. Cut into 2-¼-inch squares; brush with butter. Place squares on ungreased cookie sheet.

Sprinkle with coarse salt or sesame or poppy seed if desired. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until crisp and golden.

Yes, you can make crackers at home! To give them their characteristic "crack," thinly roll out the dough and bake on ungreased cookie sheets.
