Sugar crumb apples

| 2 | cups | Flour |
| 1¼ | cup | Sugar |
| 4 | teaspoons | Lemon peel |
| ⅛ | teaspoon | Salt |
| 1 | cup | Butter or margarine |
| 6 | Tart apples, peeled and thinly, sliced | |
Directions
Combine in a mixing bowl the, sugar, lemon peel and salt. With pastry blender or two knives, cut in butter until particles are fine. Sprinkle ⅓ of crumbs over the bottom of a 9 inch square pan or 2 quart baking dish and gently pat down. Arrange apples over crumbs. Sprinkle remaining crumbs over apples. Bake in moderate oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until topping is golden and apples are tender.
