Shiitake mushroom gravy

Ingredients

1tablespoonSesame oil
cupMushrooms, shiitake; finely chopped
2teaspoonsAgar-agar; dissolved in 1 cup boiling water
teaspoonSalt
¾teaspoonBlack pepper

Directions

In a small saucepan, brown the onions in sesame oil for 5 minutes.

Stir in the mushrooms and cook an additional 3 to 4 minuts over medium heat. The mixture should be dark brown when done. Add the remaining ingredients and cook over medium heat for an additional 3 minutes till gravy thickens. Serve over rice or crepes.

Yield: 1¼ cups
