Scalded milk cake

Yield: 8 servings

Measure Ingredient
4 \N Eggs; to 6
2 cups Sugar
2 cups Flour
1 cup Milk

¼ pounds Butter; plus
2 tablespoons Shortening
2 tablespoons Vanilla
2 tablespoons Baking powder

Beat eggs and sugar until light. Sieve flour three or four times before measuring. Add baking powder to flour and sieve. Add to batter half at a time. Boil together butter and milk and while boiling pour over batter. Add vanilla last.

Beat well and bake in two 9" pans for 30 min at 375 degrees, or until done.

If you have an electric mixer you won't have to beat so much.
