Savory baked apples with orange almond cream^

Ingredients

| ⅓ | cup | Firmly packed brown sugar |
| 2 | tablespoons | Melted butter |
| 3 | slices | Bacon, cooked and crumbled |
| ½ | cup | Chopped dates |

| 1 | tablespoon | Powdered sugar |
| 1 | tablespoon | Orange juice |
| 1 | tablespoon | Chopped toasted almonds |
Directions
Preheat oven to 375F.
Core apples, leaving bottom intact. Bore opening slightly with a knife. Cut a
wavy line horizontally with peeler; peel upper portion of apple.
Combine brown sugar, butter, bacon and dates; put into apples.
Bake apples, covered, in a 13X9X2" pan 30 minutes or until apples are tender.
Combine remaining ingredients; serve with apples.
