Pasta primavera with pesto

| 3-4 cups of broccoli flowerets and carrots sliced at an angle | ||
| 12 | ounces | Pasta (rotini-red, green and white) |
| Approx 2/3 cup fresh basil leaves | ||
| ⅓ | cup | Pine nuts or walnuts (or any combination) |
| 4 | eaches | Cloves garlic |
| ⅓ | cup | Extra virgin olive oil |
| ½ | cup | Parmesan cheese, freshly grated |

Add carrots and pasta to boiling water. Add broccoli after 5 minutes.
While pasta/vegetables are cooking, add basil, nuts and garlic to food processor and pulse until finely chopped. With the machine running, pour in the olive oil in a thin stream. Add the cheese, salt and pepper to taste and process briefly to combine. Thin with 2 Tbs HOT water. This will make it easier to toss. Toss pesto with hot pasta and vegetables.
