Parsley dumplings

Measure Ingredient
3 tablespoons Shortening
1½ cup All-purpose flour*
3 tablespoons Chopped fresh Parsley or chives
2 teaspoons Baking powder
½ teaspoon Salt
¾ cup Milk

*if using self-rising flour omit Baking powder and salt.

Cut shortening into flour, baking powder, salt and parsley or chives with pastry blender until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in milk. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto hot meat or vegetables in boiling stew (do not drop directly into liquid). Cook uncovered 10 minutes.

Cover and cook 10 minutes longer. 10 DUMPLINGS; 105 CALORIES PER DUMPLING. To Microwave: Prepare dumplings as directed. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto hot meat or vegetables in boiling stew in 3-quart microwavable casserole only around edge (do not drop dough in center). Cover tightly and microwave on high 5 to 7 minutes, rotating casserole ½ turn after 3 minutes, until dumplings are no longer doughy.
