Okra fritters

Measure Ingredient
1 cup Sifted unbleached flour
1½ teaspoon Baking powder
2 teaspoons Salt
¼ teaspoon Ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon Grated nutmeg
1 pinch Cayenne -- or to taste

\N \N * Stir all together*

: *Beat lightly*

2 c fresh okra -- thinly sliced *stir wet into dry, combining well. Stir in okra. Drop by teaspoons into 350x deep fat. Cook until golden (3-5 minutes--they float up, then turn over).* Drain on paper towels. Serve hot with dippin' sauce if desired.
