Measure | Ingredient |

¾ cup | Shortening; melted |
1 cup | Sugar |
1 \N | Egg |
¼ cup | Molasses |
2 teaspoons | Baking soda |
2 cups | All-purpose flour |
½ teaspoon | Cloves |
½ teaspoon | Ginger |
1 teaspoon | Cinnamon |
½ teaspoon | Salt |
Melt shortening; allow to cool. Add sugar, egg and molasses to shortening.
Sift flour, soda and spices together. Mix all together and form into 1-inch balls, roll in granulated sugar and place on cookie sheet 2 inches apart.
Bake 6 to 8 minutes in 350-degree oven. If taken out of oven when shiny, cookie will be softer. Leave on pan 1 minute before removing after taking out of oven.
