Minestra of rice and cabbage

Ingredients

| ½ | Small head cabbage; cut | |
| 1 | small | (3/4-inch diameter) |
| 1 | quart | Boiling water |
| 2 | To 3 oz raw ham; chopped | |
| ½ | cup | Canned tomatoes |
| ¼ | cup | Long grain white rice |
| 1 | teaspoon | Salt |
| Soy sauce | ||
| 1 | Stalk celery; chopped fine | |
Directions
Saute ham and celery for 5 minutes. Add ham, celery and rice to water; cook until rice is almost done. Add cabbage, cook until tender. Just before completion, add tomatoes and salt. Serve with soy sauce.
