Leprechaun spice cake

1cupWater, hot
1cupGuiness,warm(or more water)
2tablespoonsMargarine (soy)
15ouncesRaisins
1teaspoonSalt
½teaspoonCloves
1teaspoonCinnamon
½teaspoonNutmeg
3cupsWhole wheat pastry flour
1teaspoonBaking soda
1teaspoonBaking powder

Directions

Bring sugar, water, Guiness, margarine, raisins, salt and spices to a boil in a heavy saucepan, simmer for 5 minutes. Allow to cool. Stir dry ingredients together. Mix into cooled mixture. Bake in a lined (with 2 layers of wax paper) large loaf pan at 350F for 1½ hours.
