Jalapeno bean dip

1 small Onion; chopped (up to)
½ pounds Cheddar; shredded
Butter or margarine
1 can (4-oz) green chiles; drained, chopped; or use fresh
1 can (16-oz) refried beans
Salt & pepper to taste

Saute onions in butter; add other ingredients & stir over low heat. Serve warm.
