Homemade almond paste

| 2 | tablespoons | Butter |
| 2 | cups | Sifted icing sugar |
| 2 | Egg yolks | |
| 1 | tablespoon | Almond extract |
| Cream (optional) | ||
Directions
Cream the butter and icing sugar. Add the egg yolks and beat. Stir in the almond extract. If the mixture is not moist enough, add a few drops of cream.
After you have spread this paste over the cake, store the cake in a cold place. Let the almond paste dry before applying the decorative icing. Yields about 1½ cups paste or enough to cover a 9x5" cake.
