In a 2-qt glass bowl, combine 1½ cups chocolate chips, unsweetened chocolate, and shortening. Heat in microwave on High about 1 ½ min, or until melted and smooth when stirred. Let cool slightly. 2. Add sugar, corn syrup, egg, and vanilla; blend well. Mix in flour and baking powder.

Stir in remaining 1 cup chocolate chips and nuts. 3. Drop dough by round teaspoonfuls (or use a small ice cream scoop) 1 ½ inches apart onto lightly greased cookie sheets.
