Fruit tzimmes -- compote

½poundsDried apricots
½poundsDried pears or apples
2cupsWater
2tablespoonsHoney
3tablespoonsBrown sugar
¼teaspoonSalt
½teaspoonCinnamon
½poundsSweet potatoes, peeled and sliced

Directions

In a large mixing bowl, presoak all the fruit overnight. Drain the water.

Pit the prunes. In a medium sized saucepan combine all the ingredients and bring to a boil. Cook over very low heat for 25 minutes or until the liquid is absorbed. Stir occasionally. Serves 8 or more.
