Fried crab canapes

Ingredients

½poundsCrabmeat, flaked
4Water chestnuts, drained and finely chopped
tablespoonCornstarch
1Egg, lightly beaten
2teaspoonsWorcestershire sauce
¾teaspoonSalt Dash tabasco
8slicesDay-old firm white bread, crusts removed Oil for frying

Directions

In bowl, combine crab, water chestnuts, cornstarch, egg, Worcestershire, salt, and tabasco. Cut each slice of bread into 4 triangles. Spread with crab misture. Preheat oil to 375 in deep fryer. Add bread triangles, crab side down. Fry 1 minute on each side. Drain on paper towels,; serve hot.
