Downtown route 66 diner brown beans

Measure Ingredient
1 pounds Brown Beans
4 quarts Water
1 large Ham Bone
1½ \N Onions -- chopped
2 teaspoons Garlic -- minced
1 teaspoon Salt
¼ teaspoon Pepper

Wash and pick over beans. In a large pot, cover beans with water. Add other ingredients and simmer over low heat for 6 hours, adding water as needed. Do not stir.
