Double almond butter cookies

| 2½ | cup | Powdered sugar; sifted, divided |
| 4 | cups | Flour |
| 2¼ | teaspoon | Vanilla; divided |
| ⅔ | cup | Almond paste |
| ¼ | cup | Firmly packed light brown sugar |
| =AB c chopped almonds; toasted | ||
Directions
Beat butter with 1 cup powdered sugar Gradually beat in flour. Bet in 2 tsp vanilla. Cover and chill dough 30 minutes. Combine almond paste, brown sugar almonds and remaining ¼ tsp vanilla. Shape dough around =AB ts almond paste mixture, completely enclosing almond paste center and forming 1-inch balls. Place on ungreased baking pans. Bake in preheated 350 F oven 15 minutes. Cool. Roll cookies in remaining 1-½ c powdered sugar or sift powdered sugar over cookies.
