Measure | Ingredient |

½ cup | Dates, stoned |
2 tablespoons | Raisins, Seedless |
1 teaspoon | Cumin, ground |
1 teaspoon | Chile powder |
1 teaspoon | Tamarind Pulp |
½ cup | Cold water |
¾ teaspoon | Salt; or to taste |
1 teaspoon | Brown sugar, soft |
1. Put all the ingredients in a food processor & add half the water. Switch on & when the ingredients are half ground add the remaining water & blend until fairly smooth.
2. Pour the sauce into a strainer & push it through with a metal spoon until a dry & coarse mixture is left in the sieve - discard this mixture & transfer sauce to a serving bowl. Garnish with sliced dates, if desired.
