Date sauce

Ingredients

QuantityIngredient
½cupDates, stoned
2tablespoonsRaisins, Seedless
1teaspoonCumin, ground
1teaspoonChile powder
1teaspoonTamarind Pulp
½cupCold water
¾teaspoonSalt; or to taste
1teaspoonBrown sugar, soft

Directions

1. Put all the ingredients in a food processor & add half the water. Switch on & when the ingredients are half ground add the remaining water & blend until fairly smooth.

2. Pour the sauce into a strainer & push it through with a metal spoon until a dry & coarse mixture is left in the sieve - discard this mixture & transfer sauce to a serving bowl. Garnish with sliced dates, if desired.
