Yield: 8 Servings
|½ cup||Dates, stoned|
|2 tablespoons||Raisins, Seedless|
|1 teaspoon||Cumin, ground|
|1 teaspoon||Chile powder|
|1 teaspoon||Tamarind Pulp|
|½ cup||Cold water|
|¾ teaspoon||Salt; or to taste|
|1 teaspoon||Brown sugar, soft|
1. Put all the ingredients in a food processor & add half the water. Switch on & when the ingredients are half ground add the remaining water & blend until fairly smooth.
2. Pour the sauce into a strainer & push it through with a metal spoon until a dry & coarse mixture is left in the sieve - discard this mixture & transfer sauce to a serving bowl. Garnish with sliced dates, if desired.
