Cranberry chess pie

(I was considering cutting the sugar content down--will the texture still be good?) Does anyone have a different recipe for Chess Pie (not the silly Jefferson Davis Pie in tart shells that masquerades as one in one of the older _Joy of Cooking_ versions)?
