Ingredients

| 1 | cup | Shortening |
| 1 | cup | White sugar |
| ¼ | cup | Brown sugar |
| 1 | Egg; beaten | |
| 1 | teaspoon | Vanilla |
| 2½ | cup | Sifted flour |
| 1½ | teaspoon | Baking powder |
| ½ | teaspoon | Salt |
| 3 | tablespoons | Milk |
| ½ | cup | Chopped walnuts |
| ½ | cup | Chopped and drained maraschino cherries |
| ½ | cup | Coconut |
| 1 | pack | (6 oz) chocolate chips |
Directions
Cream shortening and add sugars. Gradually add egg and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients together and add to the shortening mixture. Mix well. Add 3 tablespoons milk, alternating with dry ingredients. Add balance of ingredients. Spread into 9x13 greased pan and bake 20 minutes at 375 degrees. Cut into bars while still warm.
May be topped with whipped cream for those who want to indulge.
