Chipped beef & cheese strata

Ingredients

| 8 | slices | White bread; remove crusts | 
| Butter; or marg. | ||
| 5 | ounces | Jar of chipped or dried beef | 
| 2 | cups | Sharp cheddar cheese; grated | 
| 4 | Eggs; beaten | |
| 2¼ | cup | Milk | 
Directions
Lightly butter the bread. Place 4 slices, butter side up, in a greased baking dish. Arrange half the dried beef over the bread; sprinkle 1 cup of grated cheese over beef. Add another layer of beef and cheese. 
Place the last 4 slices of bread, butter side up, on top. Combine eggs and milk and pour over bread; allow to stand 1 hr before baking. 
Bake uncovered in a 350 oven for 1 hr until puffed, brown and set.
