Measure | Ingredient |
---|---|
1 tablespoon | Olive oil |
2 tablespoons | Diced onion |
8 ounces | Lean ground beef or turkey |
1 tablespoon | Soysauce |
¼ teaspoon | Dried sage |
4 ounces | Cheddar or Swiss cheese; cut into 8 cubes |
1. Preheat the oven to 325F.
2. Oil a shallow baking pan with a little olive oil or pan spray.
3. Heat the oil in a frying pan over moderate heat until hot but not smoking. Add the onion and saute until golden brown, about 10 minutes.
4. Combine the onion, beef, soy sauce, and sage. Divide the mixture into eight portions. Take a chunk of cheese and cover with one portion of the mixture to form a meatball shape. Repeat to form a total of eight meatballs.
5. Place the meatballs in the oiled pan and bake for 30 minutes.
Note: The meatballs can also be fried in a frying pan, using 2 tb of oil.
