Candy apples

Yield: 8 servings

Measure Ingredient
8 \N Apples
8 \N Popsicle sticks
3 cups Granulated sugar
1 cup Water
½ cup Corn syrup
¼ cup Red hot candies
½ teaspoon Red food coloring

Insert a popsicle stick part way through stem end of apples. Prepare a baking sheet with cooking spray and set aside. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, water, corn syrup, candies, and food coloring. Boil without stirring until candy thermometer reaches 290, about 20 minutes. With brush dipped in water, brush sugar from sides of pan. Remove mixture from heat, dip pot bottom briefly in cold water to arrest cooking. Tip saucepan, swirl each apple in mixture to coat.
