|2 cups||All-purpose flour|
|2 teaspoons||Baking powder|
|½ teaspoon||Red pepper|
|1 cup||Cheddar cheese; shredded|
Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and red pepper; cut in shortening and cheese until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add buttermilk, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened.
Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart on lighlty greased baking sheets. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
