Banana ambrosia salad with sherry dressing

| Torn Romaine lettuce | ||
| ¾ | cup | Finely chopped dried starfruit |
| 1 | Pear, thinly sliced | |
| ¼ | cup | Salad oil |
| ⅓ | cup | Dry sherry or vinegar |
| 1 | teaspoon | Thinly sliced orange peel |
| 2 | Bananas, such as manzano, burro or red, peeled and sliced | |
| 1 | large | Orange, peeled, halved and sliced |
| ¼ | teaspoon | Ground allspice |
| 2 | teaspoons | Shredded fresh ginger root |
Directions
SHERRY DRESSING
Arrange lettuce on a large serving platter or four salad plates. On top of lettuce arrange fruit (dip banana slices in lemon juice to prevent darkening). Place dressing ingredients in a shaker jar.
Cover, shake well, drizzle over salad. Makes 5-6 servings.
