Measure Ingredient
1¼ cup Sugar
½ cup Shortening
2 Eggs, well beaten
1 cup Buttermilk
1 teaspoon Soda
3½ cup Flour
¼ teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Baking powder
1 teaspoon Lemon extract
1 teaspoon Orange extract

Mix ingredients in order given. Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Chill dough in refrigerator overnight. Roll out small amounts of dough at a time. Roll to thickness of a pencil and about ten inches long.

Shape into figure 8 on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes at 425 degrees or until light brown. Remove from oven. Dip top of kringle in cold water. Submitted By BARRY WEINSTEIN On 03-27-95
