|550 grams||Wholemeal flour|
|2 teaspoons||Baking powder|
|300 millilitres||Buttermilk or 150ml/ 1/4|
|1 pint||Natural yoghurt mixed with|
1 Put the flour in a roomy bowl. Stir in the baking powder and salt. Make a well in the centre, add the buttermilk and mix to a soft but not sticky dough.
2 Divide the mixture into two, shape with floured hands and place on a baking sheet. Make a cross in the centre and bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown. The loaves should sound hollow when you tap them on the base.
