Wholemeal soda bread

Measure Ingredient
550 grams Wholemeal flour
2 teaspoons Baking powder
1 teaspoon Salt
Cooking oil
300 millilitres Buttermilk or 150ml/ 1/4
1 pint Natural yoghurt mixed with
150 millilitres Water

1 Put the flour in a roomy bowl. Stir in the baking powder and salt. Make a well in the centre, add the buttermilk and mix to a soft but not sticky dough.

2 Divide the mixture into two, shape with floured hands and place on a baking sheet. Make a cross in the centre and bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown. The loaves should sound hollow when you tap them on the base.
