Walnut cottage pudding

¼ cup Butter
½ cup Sugar
1 Egg, well beaten
¼ teaspoon Salt
1 cup Milk
2 cups Flour
3 teaspoons Baking-powder
½ cup Chopped nuts
½ teaspoon Vanilla
6 servings.

Directions

Cream butter with sugar. Add egg. Beat thoroughly. Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking-powder and salt. Add alternately with milk to first mixture. Add nuts and flavoring. Mix thoroughly. Pour into shallow, well-oiled baking pan. Bake in moderate oven (375 F) 30 minutes. Serve with vanilla or hard sauce.
