Super-simple apple treat

2 Servings

Ingredients

QuantityIngredient
2slicesWhole wheat toast
1Apple, cored and sliced (skin left on)
1teaspoonButter or margarine (up to 2)
1teaspoonBrown sugar (up to 4)
Ground cinnamon
Ground nutmeg
Sliced or grated cheese (optional)

Directions

Place toast on a cookie sheet or oven-proof plate. Arrange sliced apple on toast, dot with butter/margarine, sprinkle brown sugar over and dust with cinnamon and/or numeg to taste. place some chese on top if you wish. Put under broiler until bubbly and brown on the edges of the apple pieces.

And lest we forget, a baked apple is even simpler. Core apples, slice knobs off of bottom to make a flat base. Place on a greased baking dish, sprinkle the butter, sugar and spices down the centers, and bake in a 325 degree oven until soft and tender - the time depends on the apple variety.
