String bean provencal

Measure Ingredient
1 tablespoon Olive oil
4 mediums Onions, chopped
4 \N Garlic cloves, chopped
28 ounces Plum tomatoes in thick puree
2 teaspoons Leaf thyme, crumbled
2 teaspoons Sugar
¼ teaspoon Salt
¼ teaspoon Ground black pepper
2 pounds String beans, trimmed and
\N \N Halved

1>. Heat oil in Dutch oven over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook, covered, stirring occasionally, 8 minutes or until softened.

Add tomatoes, thyme, sugar, salt and pepper, breaking tomatoes with back of spoon. Stir in the string beans. Simmer, covered, stirring occasionally, 25 to 35 minutes or until beans are tender.
