Seaweed soup

Quantity | Ingredient | |

½ | pounds | Cooked sloke or dulse |
14⅞ | ounce | Mashed potatoes |
One lemon; juice of | ||
3 | pints | Milk |
1 | tablespoon | Melted butter |
Salt and pepper to taste |
Thoroughly wash fresh seaweed in running water to remove sand.
Soak for 2 hours in cold water, strain.
Place seaweed in a pot, cover with water, cover with lid.
Simmer gently for at least 3 - 4 hours until it becomes a jelly, drain.
Simmer cooked seaweed, milk and potato together for 20 minutes.
Beat well or blend in a liquidizer or blender.
Season with pepper to taste.
Add melted butter and lemon juice, beat again.
Reheat, serve hot.
