1 cup | Water |
2½ cup | Sugar |
¼ cup | Salt |
1½ teaspoon | Whole allspice |
1 \N | (3-inch) cinnamon stick |
1½ teaspoon | Celery seeds |
1½ teaspoon | Mustard seeds |
1½ teaspoon | Whole black pepper corns |
Place all of the ingredients in a nonreactive saucepan, over high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce heat to medium and simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from the heat and cool completely.
