Pickling liquid

Yield: 4 servings

Measure Ingredient
3 cups Distilled white vinegar
1 cup Water
2½ cup Sugar
¼ cup Salt
1½ teaspoon Whole allspice
1 \N (3-inch) cinnamon stick
1½ teaspoon Celery seeds
1½ teaspoon Mustard seeds
1½ teaspoon Whole black pepper corns

Place all of the ingredients in a nonreactive saucepan, over high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce heat to medium and simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from the heat and cool completely.
