Ingredients

1poundsRotini, Twists or Spirals uncooked
8ouncesTurkey sausage (Italian-style), casings removed
1largeOnion; chopped
1mediumGreen bell pepper; chopped
2Garlic cloves; minced
28ouncesCanned tomatoes, chopped with liquid
8ouncesTomato sauce
4ouncesCanned mushrooms; drained
teaspoonDried basil
1teaspoonDried thyme
½teaspoonChili powder
½cupPart-skim mozzarella cheese (shredded)

Directions

Prepare pasta according to package directions; drain.

In Dutch oven or large skillet, cook sausage, onion, green pepper, and garlic over medium heat until sausage is no longer pink. Drain. Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, mushrooms, basil, thyme, and chili powder.

Simmer uncovered 10 minutes. Pour sauce over pasta and top with cheese.
