Pasta with turkey sausage & spicy tomato sa

Yield: 6 Servings

Measure Ingredient
1 pounds Rotini, Twists or Spirals uncooked
8 ounces Turkey sausage (Italian-style), casings removed
1 large Onion; chopped
1 medium Green bell pepper; chopped
2 \N Garlic cloves; minced
28 ounces Canned tomatoes, chopped with liquid
8 ounces Tomato sauce
4 ounces Canned mushrooms; drained
1½ teaspoon Dried basil
1 teaspoon Dried thyme
½ teaspoon Chili powder
½ cup Part-skim mozzarella cheese (shredded)

Prepare pasta according to package directions; drain.

In Dutch oven or large skillet, cook sausage, onion, green pepper, and garlic over medium heat until sausage is no longer pink. Drain. Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, mushrooms, basil, thyme, and chili powder.

Simmer uncovered 10 minutes. Pour sauce over pasta and top with cheese.
