Makes 4 servings.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F(205C). Halve tomatoes crosswise. Arrange them, cut side up, in a shallow casserole dish. Trim the blossom ends, if necessary, so they can stand flat. Stir the garlic and orange peel in to the butter.
Spread the orange mixture equally over each tomato half. Bake 25 minutes.
Sprinkle with basil, cover with foil and bake 10 minutes, or until tomatoes are tender.
