Onion smothered steak

Yield: 4 Servings

Measure Ingredient
1 \N Round steak (enough for 4)
¼ cup Flour
2 tablespoons Shortening
3 mediums Onions; sliced
1 tablespoon Vinegar
1 \N Clove garlic; minced
1 \N Bay leaf
¼ teaspoon Crushed thyme
1 teaspoon Salt
⅛ teaspoon Black pepper
1 cup Water

Trim meat. Combine flour, salt & pepper. Pound into meat. Cut meat into serving size pieces. Brown in shortening. Drain. Top with onions. Stir in water & remaining ingredients. Cover & simmer for 1 hour. Remove bay leaf.
