Onion smothered steak

Ingredients

| 1 | Round steak (enough for 4) | |
| ¼ | cup | Flour |
| 2 | tablespoons | Shortening |
| 3 | mediums | Onions; sliced |
| 1 | tablespoon | Vinegar |
| 1 | Clove garlic; minced | |
| 1 | Bay leaf | |
| ¼ | teaspoon | Crushed thyme |
| 1 | teaspoon | Salt |
| ⅛ | teaspoon | Black pepper |
| 1 | cup | Water |
Directions
Trim meat. Combine flour, salt & pepper. Pound into meat. Cut meat into serving size pieces. Brown in shortening. Drain. Top with onions. Stir in water & remaining ingredients. Cover & simmer for 1 hour. Remove bay leaf.
