One bowl chocolate sauce and poached pears

Ingredients

⅔ | cup | Fresh orange juice |
2 | teaspoons | Grated orange rind |
½ | cup | Firmly packed brown sugar |
¼ | cup | Butter |
½ | cup | Water |
6 | Whole ripe Bartlett pears, peeled | |
4 | Squares semi-sweet chocolate chopped | |
¼ | cup | Whipping cream |
1 | tablespoon | Butter |
Directions
Mix first 5 ingredients in a large shallow pan, heat to dissolve sugar.
Place pears in pan, simmer, covered, over low heat 15 to 20 minutes or until tender, turning several times.
Remove pears from pan. Bring remaining liquid to a boil over high heat and continue boiling until syrupy.
Microwave chocolate, cream and butter on medium for 2 minutes, stir until completely melted.
To serve stand pears in individual serving dishes, spoon orange sauce evenly over pears. Glaze with warm chocolate sauce. *Make ahead: Pears and syrup can be prepared early in day. Add warmed chocolate sauce just before serving. Yield: 6 servings. Typed in MMFormat by cjhartlin@...
