Pears in chocolate syrup

Ingredients

2½ | cup | Red wine |
⅓ | cup | Sugar |
Half stick cinnamon | ||
1 | pinch | Ground coriander |
3 | Whole cloves | |
Grated rind of 1 orange | ||
4 | Firm; ripe pears | |
1 | Jar chocolate sauce | |
3 | tablespoons | Cognac |
Mint leaves for garnish; (optional) |
Directions
In saucepan combine wine, sugar, cinnamon, coriander, cloves & rind. Bring to boil. Add pears. Reduce heat. Simmer just until tender, about 8 minutes.
Remove pears with slotted spoon. Core from bottom if desired. Place pears upright in 4 sherbet-type glasses or bowls. Mix together cognac & chocolate sauce. Pour sauce around pears. Garnish with mint if desired.
Approximately 10-12 minutes.
